Steps to Repair your Beats Powerbeats Pro Ear Hook
If the repair process is daunting, check out our repair catalog to see if we offer repair services for your device. If it's not listed, we don't repair it.
Step 1: Heating the Ear Hook
1.1 Adjust the heat gun to 100-140°F and set it to a good blowing speed.
1.2 Avoid heating the Powerbeats Pro housing because it’s made of thin plastic and can be damaged easily. Only heat the ear hook.
1.3 Slightly heat the ear hook on the right side (the process is the same for both sides, though the ear hooks are different). Apply a good amount of heat, but be careful to avoid excessive heat damage. Continue heating until the clip above the ear hook becomes easier to detach. If it’s still tough to remove, apply a bit more heat.
Step 2: Removing the Old Ear Hook
2.1 Hold the housing of the Powerbeats Pro securely and pull the ear hook gently but firmly while twisting upward until it pops off. If the speaker is still attached, be cautious not to damage it. If the ear hook resists, apply a little more heat and try again.
2.2 Once the ear hook is removed, clean up any residue left behind to ensure a smooth and secure fit for the replacement.
Step 3: Attaching the New Ear Hook
3.1 Ensure the new ear hook is positioned the right way. Apply a thin layer of RTV Glue adhesive, just enough to glue without seeping out.
3.2 Align the clip on the ear hook with the housing and attach the hook. The clip will do most of the work holding it in place.
3.3 Wrap a small piece of saran wrap around the speaker driver and housing to keep the new ear hook securely in place while the adhesive cures.
Step 4: Curing and Final Steps
4.1 Allow the adhesive to cure for 24 hours. Avoid using the Powerbeats Pro during this time to prevent the ear hook from coming loose.
4.2 Once fully cured, remove the saran wrap and check that the ear hook is firmly attached.
That’s it! You’ve successfully repaired your Powerbeats Pro ear hook. Thanks for following along!
